mid month

Not too much exciting has happened in the last couple of weeks. Cadence is now 10 months old--almost 10 and a half! She is crawling all over and pulls herself to standing with anything; a chair, the gates, the recliner, the table, anything. She will let go with one hand to look around but doesn't let go with both. She'll scoot around, esp around the baby jail gate but not too much yet. I expect she'll be walking around her first birthday but we're not rushing it. She still stands on her tiptoes a lot which looks really painful but doesn't seem to bother her.

She's quite good at playing by herself now that the whole living room is baby proofed and is her domain. Last night and today, she crawled behind the recliner and got stuck. Pigpen got a funny picture of her back there looking pissed.

Cadence is quite the daddy's girl. When I am holding her and he is near, she chooses to go to him, which he loves. I'm glad things have gotten less busy and he is home a bit more to spend time with her. She smiles so big when he walks in the door.

"Ba" is still her favorite syllable and she says it in so many ways. We even heard it in the form of a question the other day.

We have one more week of swim class and she has definitely warmed up to the water. Pigpen came this week and took some pictures and even got a video of Cadence (and Brooke) being dunked. Getting into the water before class and letting her get used to it is key. She is kicking more and just generally seems happier in the water which is good. I'll definitely sign her up for another class when she is older.

We have a busy social calendar! We saw Cheryl and Olivia today, going to see Valerie and the twins for the first time on Friday and having a play date with Roxy and Diana Lewis-Chun's twins too at the end of the month. I'm planning on going to a Meetup.com event at the Meadowlark Gardens. Just making sure I'm meeting new moms and other babies for Cadence. I think we may even have Kristin Leonato and Alex over to play in our new little pool!

Cadence is eating well. She likes most everything we've given her, esp the vegetable risotto and cheese. She didn't like pineapple but that's it so far that has been obvious. She started having the mum mum crackers and LOVES them since she can handle them and they are so crunchy. She eats the puffs and has now started little things that look like cheetos but have many flavors. She sits at the table with us like a big girl and loves to eat off our plates too. She seems to have the chewing down so she can have chunkier things now.

Grandpa stayed with us on Friday night and Cadence had a great time playing with him. We'll see him quickly tomorrow for lunch before he heads back to Ohio.

On a side note, we found out that Oma has breast cancer this week but she is scheduling surgery to get it all taken care of and she should be fine. We're worried about her!

Here's a cute picture that I call "watching for Daddy" although Pigpen is right next to her, just out of the picture. :)
