6 month appt

We had ANOTHER blizzard! On Friday we got over 20 inches of snow. Cadence and I hunkered down at Penn Acres to weather out the storm. Oma flew to Cabo so its just the two of us and Pop Pop. Daddy and Whitney come home and stay with us when they aren't working. We've had a ton of fun going up to Jenna and Wade's to see our friend Brooke. We've gotten a ton of cute pictures.

Cadence's 6 month appt was supposed to be tomorrow but I called the doctor and moved it to today. Pop Pop was nice enough to take us since the roads are terrible and the big red truck is still covered in snow. I was a little concerned about her skin and didn't want to wait. We are bracing for ANOTHER storm tonight (6-16 inches could hit us) so things will undoubtedly be closed tomorrow. We didn't get to see Dr. Peyton but that was ok. She got 3 shots and the oral one. I got to hold her while she got the shots and although she was exhausted (almost fell asleep waiting for the nurse to come give her the shots), she cried a little but quickly quieted with the pacifier and took a nap in the Suburban on the way home. She was pretty fussy today and some yesterday and it almost seems like she has calmed down since having the shots. Weird!

Baby girl weighed 15 lbs, 2 oz and was 26 inches long. She was in the 50th percentile for both weight and length. The doctor says she has ezcema and its not pretty. Some of her skin is cracking and bleeding, esp on on her left hand and her ankles. She has dry spots all over her--armpits, behind her knees, shoulders, ankles and feet, forehead, cheeks, everywhere it seems! She gave me a prescription for some cream to put on her at bedtime and we're going to go back in about 2 weeks to see if its any better.

The doc also said we can start some veggies in the evenings so tonight, since Pigpen was home, we tried some green beans. She looked a little wary with the first bite (we took a video) but then seemed to like it more. We'll definitely try some again tomorrow. She has seemed better with the rice cereal (had two bowls yesterday!) so it seemed like a good time to try beans. I also bought some squash and oatmeal/peaches/banana mix for the mornings. They said to hold off on too many sweets because they will like those more than the veggies. So we'll wait awhile for the oatmeal. But what better than a blizzard than to try new things!

We've been staying in the basement and sharing a room with baby girl for the first time since we went to DB. She was doing her random crying out thing a couple of times during the night but she settled down last night. Who knows what tonight will bring after her shots. She took about a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon when we got home but she only took a short nap this morning and a quick nap in the car on the way home from the doctor's office. I haven't been sleeping so hot, some because of her but some because of the bed. We have another couple of nights here but of course she'll probably adjust once we have to leave. :)

More after the blizzard of 2010, round 2!
