Well, we did get another 6-8 inches in the Blizzard of 2010 Round 2 as everyone called it. It was hard to believe we could even have room for more snow but we did. Luckily Pigpen didn't work as hard on the second storm as on the first but its been a very busy month. Needless to say, we haven't gotten to Ohio but we're trying again this weekend. Rain is scheduled for today (its just going to be a nasty mess out there b/c there is at least still a foot of snow around so there is nowhere for the rain to be absorbed!) and some snow showers Wed/Thurs. Apparently someone doesn't want us to get to Ohio!
I turned 31 yesterday (EEK!) and it was a nice day. We 3 went to Bob Evans for breakfast and then to Sears to buy me a vacuum using Pop Pop's discount card. I think I got a good one. Then we came back, baby napped, I did work and Pigpen worked outside before the rain today. Last night, Kristin, David, Kathy and Adam Mike came over and we had pizza, watched some Olympics and played Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games on Wii which was fun! It was a nice evening even though everyone (but us) had to go to work today. :)
Today we go to Cadence's followup checkup about her skin. She seems to have diaper rash that just won't go away. Judy said to blowdry it well after her bath but she freaked out when we put the blowdryer near her the other day. Started wailing. But she seems to dry out (we let her air out between changes a little) and then we slather her in A&D ointment. I guess it looks a little better but its still a little red. We try not to wipe her too often which I suppose would irritate it more. I'm going to ask the doctor. And her right nipple looks a little (tiny bit) swollen and Pigpen thought it was hurting her when he touched it the other night. So we want to make sure that's ok. Her ankles are 100% better and the back of her legs get better and worse, depending on the day. She is covered in vaseline which seems to help but makes her a greasy mess!
She has started veggies in the evening. She has had green beans, squash, carrots, peas and mixed veggies (peas, carrots and spinach). She really seems to like veggies but seemed less interested in the carrots. She liked them fine in the mixed veggies though. Soon we'll add in some fruit and vary things. We still do rice cereal for her late morning meal. She loves to eat from a spoon and opens her mouth super quickly, ready for the next bite. She has definitely gotten the hang of eating! We'll ask the doctor today about adding in things like cheerios.
Baby girl still sleeps well and goes to bed around 9pm. Last night was better but a few nights before that, she would cry out in her sleep, anywhere between 3 and 5am. A pacifier quickly made it better and she went back to sleep. She has recently started waking up more around 6:30am which we're not happy about in the offseason. :) Sometimes she chats and then falls back asleep. Today she kept whining so Pigpen got her up, changed her diaper and she fell back asleep for a little while in bed with us. Then I fed her about 7:45am.
She still loves her saucer and vibrate/kicking chair. She is SOOOO close to rolling over from back to front (so much so that we took a bunch of videos hoping she'd do it) and she can sit unassisted most of the time. You can't let her sit somewhere like on the floor without being very close b/c sometimes, she just falls backwards onto her back and if she did that on the floor, she'd really bang her head. She's getting better at it every day and does really well on the bed and couch. Soon she'll do it all by herself! I think her favorite toy is her pink toddler spoon which she could chew on all day. We wonder if she's getting another tooth...
We went to dinner for our birthdays at the Swiggs house on Sat night. Despite being tired, C did well except she bawled whenever Bill held her! It was sad since I know Bill really wanted to play grandpa for the evening. I'm not sure if it was the facial hair or glasses or what! But she did great being passed around by all the ladies.
We went to Baby Pictures again with Jenna and Brooke (and saw "Precious). C took a little nap and was well behaved. Luckily the movie wasn't terribly long. I'm not sure how much longer I can take her to those though, since I can only imagine she'll get more disruptive as she gets older. :)
