9 months have passed

Oh my goodness, where has the time gone. Cadence turned 9 months old yesterday. We celebrated by having avocado which she didn't seem to love or hate. She ate it so that's what counts. This morning we had some fresh banana. The doc gave us approval to start little finger foods!

We had her checkup today. She is 16lbs, 12oz and 28 inches long. Her head was 17 inches in circumference. It appears that is all in the middle of the spectrum which is good. Dr. Peyton said everything was fine and mostly talked about safety. She only had to get 1 shot--the Hep B and she cried before she even got pricked. I think she doesn't like laying down on the table and when the needle went in, she just wailed even louder. It took a second for her to breathe. She eventually calmed down with her bottle--she was tired and hungry. I don't even think I made it out of the parking lot before she fell asleep.

So many things have happened in the last week. She first started rolling EVERYWHERE! Front to back, back to front, all the time. Then early last week, she started scooting on her tummy like an inchworm. James took a video while I was at bells of her putting her arms out and then pulling herself forward to get to his phone. It is so cute. This week she is perfecting the scooting and although it still isn't crawling, it's closer. She's definitely faster. I realized she had gotten across the living room this morning to the magazine holder and was tearing it apart. The baby fence is now up.

She has also managed to learn to sit up on her own! She first started doing it in her crib only, and going from her tummy onto her legs (like she was crawling) and then rocking back onto her butt and walking her arms towards her. Now she is a bit more efficient and can do it from the side. She not only does it in her crib now, but everywhere. She was doing it during her sleep sometimes and then would seem to fall asleep while sitting up and chewing on her hippo lovely and then would bang her head against the slats of the crib. Didn't make her too happy. She finally figured out how to get back to lying down from sitting up so she's sleeping better I think.

She has also started waving and clapping, but not on command and only when she wants. She seems to favor her left hand which I love. She smiles and waves and strangers and friends and almost seems to say hiiiiiiii. Its really cute.

She has pushed her bedtime up a little because she is down to two naps as of about 2 weeks ago. She has her morning nap around 9:30 for about an hour and her afternoon nap around 2pm for 2 hours. Then she stays up until about 8pm, has a bottle and goes to bed about 8:30pm. She has also started sleeping a little later in the mornings, which I love. She now gets up about 7:30am but that changes from day to day.

Her 4 top teeth are in but still not quite visible when she smiles. But oh the grinding of the teeth. It is a horrible noise. Not sure if we have caught it on video but we should. It is the worst!

It was really hot this weekend but we went to see the May Revels performance on Sunday. She had a short nap in the morning and didn't sleep on the way there but made it until about 3:15pm when we were almost home and then finally fell asleep. She did fine with the heat and having sunscreen on--she mostly tried to eat the grass we had the blanket on. Since it was so hot, we decided she didn't need the sleep sack at night so we put her in a onesie and her regular pjs. Sun night wasn't so great but the last couple of nights have been fine. So clearly she doesn't need the sack to sleep! But she hasn't gone down without her hippo lovey so that may be the new necessity. Better than a pacifier!

We are still dealing with drama of a neighbor complaining about us running the business out of the house. Think we have to get a storage unit...

Here's an adorable recent pic as we were getting ready for a walk.
