Ultrasound #1

Its been a rough couple of days. After having a couple of nauseous days but no throwing up, I had a bad morning yesterday and today. I thought I was doing ok today and Pigpen and I went out to breakfast, but at the end of the meal, I felt awful. I quickly left IHOP and didn't even make it to the car. I was terribly embarrassed and just wanted to get home. Not a fun morning.

The ultrasound was scheduled for this afternoon and we got there around 2:30pm. I drank my 16 oz or so but luckily I wasn't uncomfortable. The sonogram guy was really nice and he did the tummy one and the internal one. We saw lots of pictures but had no idea what we were looking at. Finally he explained that the round thing was the yolk sac and the baby was next to it. We could even see a tiny tiny heartbeat. He turned on the doppler with the internal one and we could even hear it. It was really nuts. Turns out I'm 6 1/2 weeks along and due August 8, 2009. I was prepared for it only being 6 1/2 weeks but I'm sort of bummed. I know that the rate of miscarriage is still high and I'm so reluctant to get excited. Twelve weeks will be January 24, 2009.

I've scanned a picture, the one we'll probably show our families since its the clearest.
