Saturday was 32 weeks and my baby shower! Cheryl, Kate and Helen hosted at Willa's house and lots of people came! Dibby, Willa, Mom, Lori, Aunt Dee, Nancy Walker, Katie, Erika, Jen, Kristin, Margo, Rebecca, KT, Valerie (and Noah), Pat and Jamie! I got some really nice gifts and had a fun time. Kate came up with GREAT games and we had a blast. Jen got the right size yarn to fit around my widest part with Dibby coming in a close second. Jamie got a gift because her b'day was closest to the due date. We played a Taboo like game where people had to make me guess a baby word without saying certain other words and in a sudden death face off between Aunt Dee, Rebecca and Erika, Rebecca won. The last game was in teams--each team had a packet of pics of me, James and thinks we like and each group glued together a collage of what they thought the baby would look like. It was hilarious and a GREAT idea for a game! It was a really nice afternoon but I felt bad taking so much time opening presents. I tried to hurry without being rude. I'm now working on thank you notes.
I went to the doctor yesterday and everything looks good. I am measuring right, the heartbeat sounded good, my blood pressure was good and I even gained about 2 lbs. I asked about my tattoo and the epidural and apparently its fine. I asked how long past my due date they let people go and she said a week. So we'll have a baby by August 15 or so! They do try to avoid c-sections if possible and she thought I was a low possibility for one because the baby's head is down and she doesn't appear to be big. I asked the doctor to tell me which way the baby was oriented and apparently, as I laid down, I had a braxton-hicks contraction which I totally didn't know. She said I was having one but I couldn't feel or really see anything. Oh well, I guess that's a good thing! She said I will definitely know when I'm having real contractions. :) I go back in 2 weeks.
