Hard to believe Cadence is 1 month old today! She seems to be doing well although we are still having trouble with breastfeeding. It can only get better?!!? There is a lot of pain involved with my nipples and the let down feeling I get sometimes. I'm still pumping once in awhile and have a good stockpile.
Some 1 month milestones for Cadence:
She's holding her head quite well. I carry her around over my shoulder a lot so she's getting really good at holding it up that way. We put her on her tummy sometimes and she's still working on strength during that time but she's doing great while being held.
She is starting to respond to my voice and seems to make happy faces when I kiss her cheeks. I guess she is starting to recognize us!
She usually likes bathtime (although last night might have been an exception). She tends to pee while in the tub and we think its pretty funny. She's more fussy when you take her out of the bath b/c she's cold!
She has a distinct cry for when she is hungry that sounds like "maaaaaa, maaaaaaaa." I'm hoping her first word will be mama. :)
She is a noisy sleeper when she's not in a deep sleep, and we can even hear her from our room sometimes!
She almost always has a good 4 hour chunk of sleep each night, usually from around 10pm until about 2pm, when I typically have to wake her up to eat! She will then go about 2 hours before wanting to feed again. She is sleeping well in her crib at night!
She has some baby acne on her cheeks but it doesn't seem to bother her.
Her hair is still wild and sticks straight up. Its my favorite feature of her!
Her farts and poops are quite audible. :)
She doesn't seem to fuss b/c she has a messy or wet diaper.
She is definitely awake more during the day. She likes to be held and usually falls asleep when she is in someone's arms but wakes up when you put her down. :)
She tends to conk out in her carseat when you go for a ride and sometimes, its hard to wake her up to eat if we're not at home. If we do come home and get her out of her carseat, she definitely wakes up and wants to eat.
She's a great traveler and has done really well in restaurants where she usually sleeps. The one time she was awake, she didn't fuss, just checked everything out. She was fussy at GramPam's the other night but does well in public.
She is feeding about every 2-3 hours during the day and a little more frequently in the evening. Its pretty common for her to feed around 9pm and then again at 10pm before going to sleep.
We're guessing she weighs a little over 8lbs but we don't go to the doctor until Wed. She seems to be getting longer too! She is still in newborn size clothes though.
She is spitting up a little, esp if she doesn't get a good burp. She seems to be quite gassy but it doesn't bother her too much, you just hear it. If she fusses right after she eats, usually she just wants to burp more. Its hard to get her to burp at night though, when she conks out after eating!
She has a hysterical wakeup routine that involves a lot of grunting and stretching. I've been trying to catch it on video but without much success.
All in all, she's a pretty good baby with a good set of lungs when she is hungry. Hopefully we'll still keep working on getting a hang of this breastfeeding thing!
Here's a cute pic I took of her yesterday. Check out that hair!
