7 weeks

Where has the time gone? She is already 7 weeks old. She is really starting to smile at us, especially when we kiss her or kiss her with her dog rattle. Its very cute. She is definitely recognizing us and seems to be happy when we're around to calm her down. She knows her mommy and daddy. :)

She is also a champion sleeper! We have had about 3 really good nights in a row, maybe more, even on days that she is sleeping a lot during the day. She goes down usually between 9 and 10pm and I'm setting my alarm for about 6 hours after her last feeding. I'm still the one waking her up around 3 or 4am! She usually goes back down pretty well after nursing and sometimes sleeps for another 3 hours or so. She tends to get up around when Pigpen does--7am or so. I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up too much but I like the way this nighttime sleeping is going!

Nursing wise, we're doing better but its still frustrating. My right nipple is back to normal and I'm able to feed her on that side without a shield. The left side is doing better but still not perfect so I'm using the shield on that side and pumping and giving her a bottle. She was having a little bit of nipple confusion between the bottle, shield and regular nursing so I went back to Pat the lactation consultant yesterday. We worked on some positions for feeding but it seems like Cadence might have inherited my TMJ since she doesn't want to keep her mouth open very far after she latches on. We're still working on letting my left side heal. We'll see what happens. She weighed 9lbs 13oz yesterday at the Breastfeeding Center. Pat mentioned something about her skin and how its not as soft as most breastfeeding babies--almost borderline getting excema. She thinks it might have to do with my diet but we'll see.

Her hair is still sticking up and its the first thing everyone comments on about her. Pretty cute. :)

Unfortunately she is having some REALLY nasty poops. I'm talking green nasty ones. They started on Sunday and I joked that they were because of the spinach and artichoke dip I had at the Banek's. But they have continued and I can't believe its still b/c of Sat night. They are the consistancy of pesto sauce. I'm going to call the doctor in a day or two if they don't stop. They are icky! Her poops before this smelled like garlic but were still orangy. She's a pretty gassy baby but doesn't fuss too much about that--mostly just when she wants to eat. :)

Tonight we go to VA Bronze with the other babies, Julian and Sonia for our big debut! We're excited to see everyone.

I have a ton of pics I need to get off the camera. Not enough hours in the day! We are super busy with aeration/seeding. Someday we'll have time. :)
