1 week until 1 month!

Last night was exciting--her umbilical stump FINALLY fell off, only 23 days after she was born. Pigpen and I are very happy about this but her belly button was still pretty foul looking. Its a little crusty now from dried blood but its better than the stump still being on!

I'm trying out Walmart diapers today. They are SO much cheaper than Huggies but its clear why--they are really really crappy! I'm not a big fan of Pampers but that's what we got as gifts. I think when we buy, we'll buy Huggies. I still think she's too small for size 1 cause I opened a box of those and they look HUGE! We'll probably get one more box of the newborn size since they go up to 10lbs.

She's still doing pretty darn well at night. I have so much milk that I'm pumping before almost every feeding (except during the night) and have managed to probably have about 20 oz or so frozen, all within the last week or so. Her fussiest parts of the day are in the evening when she wants to eat a lot so we'll probably give her a bottle of the frozen stuff then to help her get a good feeding before bed. Last night, she ate around 9 until 9:45pm or so and when Pigpen put her down, she acted like she wanted to fuss some and he kept putting her pacifier back in. When he got up the last time I told him if she fussed again, I would nurse her, hopefully for the last time that night before bed. Next thing I knew, I was waking up and it was 12:30am! Guess she managed to soothe herself to sleep. I fed her then, and then again at 3:30am and then at 6:30am. She even went back to sleep for a little while when Pigpen left for work so I got a little more sleep. We got up around 8:45am and she wanted to feed again, for quite awhile. Unfortunately, that meant that I didn't eat breakfast until about 10am but I did ok. We're still having some breastfeeding issues since my nipples still hurt but I'm trying, at least sometimes during the day, to not use the nipple shield. At night I've been using it since we're both pooped and its hard to get a good latch. She seems to be a bit gassy the past day or two so we've been burping her a lot. She's also been a little spit up-y but it doesn't seem to bother her too much. She's definitely not effected by a yucky diaper which is nice!

The biggest bummer about feeding time is that she seems to go from ok to pissed in about .02 seconds. She doesn't give you a lot of warning for when she's hungry. She'll be sitting there or sleeping and then she'll wake up and scream until she feeds. Its hard b/c there's a bit of a process for me to get ready to feed her since I've been pumping a little beforehand and then I have to get the My Brest Friend ready etc. Sometimes I try to change her diaper before she eats too. Its so hard to hear her cry so much, esp in the evenings when I've been with her all day. The nice thing about overnight though is that I'm usually the one waking HER up. I can hear her squalking sometimes but she never full out cries during the night to be fed. I think we're really lucky with that.

She is still sneezing sometimes which is really cute and her funniest thing is that she keeps grabbing her hair, pulling on it and then screaming. Its like she doesn't know that her arm is connected to her. Finally, the other night, Pigpen and I took a video of it b/c it was so funny. We shouldn't laugh at her but oh well. :)

Tomorrow night we venture to Miss Shirley's house for Miss O's second birthday! Cadence and I are off to Walmart today to get her a gift, once she feeds again when she wakes up.
