Cadence is about 2 1/2 months old and 11 weeks this week! She is such a good smiler and is talking more and more each day. She gives us big grins when she sees us which we love. She has big eyes that look at everything--she especially likes lights. She is holding her neck up well, especially when we carry her and we're working on tummy time. When she is sleepy is when her head gets floppy, as we try to burp her during a bottle. She is growing out of her newborn sized things (although newborn pants still mostly fit ok) and I've put a few things in a tupperware to keep for nostalgia. I also have another tupperware of clothes for her to grow into and a box of clothes to give to Kate who is due in late Jan and is expecting a girl too!
She loves to suck her fist and thumb and we're glad that she can self soothe, even if it is noisey. :) Its cute to watch her do because she tries to get her whole fist in her mouth! I've tried to get a video of it.
She is still only on breastmilk from a bottle. I'm basically pumping 4 times a day (although I was at the mall the other day and realized that I had totally forgotten to pump that morning when I couldn't figure out why my boobs hurt! I hurried home and pumped, and luckily there was no leaking). She's on 5 oz bottles and just last night we tried upping them to 6oz but I still think its a little much for her as she hasn't quite gotten a whole 6 oz down today very easily. Maybe we'll try 6 oz for bed and 5 oz the rest of the time.
She is a MAJOR sleeper. She has been sleeping through the night now for at least 2 weeks, if not longer, since she was about 2 months old. She has always had long stretches of sleep but now she seems to be developing a schedule. I'm still writing down everytime she eats and sleeps so I can see if there's a schedule but it only seems to be at night. Two nights ago she went down at 8pm (although she had been going down between 9-10pm) and we thought it might just be a nap so she was still in her day clothes. Luckily I thought it might be bedtime so I went in and changed her and she didn't really wake up. She ended up sleeping until 6am straight, without waking up! I of course woke up at 2:30am thinking she was getting up so I ran and pumped. But then she stayed asleep. I then woke up at 4:30am thinking she was waking up again and so I got a bottle warmed up but she stayed asleep. I couldn't really get back to sleep so I dozed on and off until she got up at 6am. She had her bottle and conked back out until 9am! I was getting a little worried that she was going a long time between feedings overnight but pediatrican Judy said that as long as she's growing, its fine. Its not a normal schedule but its not unusual, which I figured. I assume she'll let me know when she's hungry! Last night she went down at 8:15pm (it was her second night in the sleep sack instead of the swaddle kiddopatamus thing) and slept until 4am. I woke up again at 2:30am but didn't pump--I tried to go back to sleep. I ended up feeding her first and then pumping last night in an effort to get more sleep. She conked out again after her bottle (a 6oz-er during the night!) and slept until about 8am. She's taking short naps during the day and more than the usual 3 for her age (more like 5) but this morning she took a good 1.25hr nap so maybe she's growing up! I was concerned last night b/c she had a 5 oz bottle around 6:15pm and then was acting sleepy but wouldn't go down. So we got her up and eventually gave her a bath and then gave her a 8 oz bottle since it was getting near 8pm but she only had 2 oz before falling asleep while eating. She was very much down for the count and wasn't going to wake up. She still slept until 4am though, which is 8 hours. I think I may go and try to check her weight just to make sure she's growing. I shouldn't complain that she's sleeping through the night though! She has her daddy's sleeping habits but her mommy's baby sleeping habits--apparently I slept through the night pretty early on according to my baby book.
