Cadence is 12 and a half weeks old! She'll be 13 weeks on Tuesday, on Nonnie's 89th birthday and 3 months the next day, Nov 4! I looked at her today and thought, she looks so much bigger! Especially when you look at old pictures of just after we brought her home, you can see how she has plumped up. Her eating style is weird--she'll go anywhere between 2-5 hours between bottles and really only wants about 5 to 5.5 oz. We tried 6oz bottles for awhile there but she wasn't eating the whole thing and it seemed like a waste. As long as she's growing! We don't go back to the doctor until early Dec for her 4 month check up though. I may see if I can get her on a scale between now and then somewhere.
She is a SLEEPING CHAMP! She rivals Pigpen. We seem to finally be working out a schedule for bottles and naps within the last few days. Of course, tonight is daylight savings so it will probably all go to hell very quickly. She gets up between 8am and 9am, has a bottle at about 9 or 9:30am, naps after the bottle, naps at noon, bottle around 1pm, nap around 2 or 2:30pm, bottle around 4pm, (bath every 3rd night), bottle around 7:45pm and bed around 8:30pm. We'll see what happens over the next few days as the time changes! I'm going to try adjusting her bedtime but since its still a vague idea timewise, I'm not sure it will work.
She is very chatty and loves to chat with us on the changing table or with herself in the swing (I have a great video of her doing that). I think she sees herself in the mirror and chats away in the swing. She plays with her hands a lot and sucks her thumb quite a bit. She doesn't rely on the pacifier too much which is good--she uses it at night sometimes, betweeen bottles, when she's a little fussy, or I sometimes use it when I put her down for a nap, but she never needs it when she goes back to sleep in the middle of the night. I'm glad she can self soothe but I'm worried about the thumb sucking becoming a habit like it did for me.
She's not reaching out to grab things yet but we're trying to dangle things in front of her to get her to do that. She grabs her clothes sometimes and usually ends up sucking on them. Her neck is getting really strong--I had her forward facing in the baby bjorn on Thursday for the first time and she did well. She's not quite strong enough for the bouncy saucer (she wobbles her whole body forwards and backwards) but she's getting there. We have it out ready for her to use it! I think she's grown out of the cradle--I haven't put her in it recently and although it is beautiful, it takes up a lot of space so I think we're going to give it back to Judy.
She is still smiling all the time at us. The best is when she sees us after a nap and smiles or smiles at Pigpen when he comes home from work and comes up to her to say hi. Its really a great feeling! She's a big kicker too--all the time when she's laying on her back. Its another way she shows she's really happy.
I think her hair is getting lighter, but I maybe crazy. Its definitely getting longer so its not sticking up quite as much--its heavier so it falls over. Its still really cute and wild. Her eyes seem to be getting a little lighter too, which makes sense as Pigpen and I both have lighter eye colors. It takes 9 months to finalize the color though so we have awhile.
