Busy week!

Its been a very busy week for Cadence and Mommy. This week we tried out a bunch of new things including the INOVA new mom's group on Monday, Rocknoceros on Wednesday and Baby Pictures at the movie theater (we saw The Lovely Bones) today! We really enjoyed the new moms group since it was nice to see other babies about Cadence's age and talk about issues with the babies. I hope it will be a good opportunity to meet other moms and for Cadence to have interaction with other babies. Next week we plan to go to the Tuesday meeting instead with Jenna and Brooke. Its at a later time which will hopefully be better for the napping issue. She took a quick nap on the way to the meeting since I left the house early hoping that would happen and she was really well behaved. It ended up being a 3 nap day but that didn't surprise me at all.

Yesterday we went to see Rocknoceros at Jammin Java since we know two of the group members since they are our customers! The music was a little loud and Cadence is a little too young to understand it but we had a good time with Jenna, Brooke, Heather and Evan, our new friends. Despite it being during nap time (started at 10:30 and went until about 11:15am), Cadence did really well and didn't fuss. She promptly fell asleep in the car on the way home and her nap schedule was all messed up but that's going to happen.

Today we went to the movies and met Jenna and Brooke. Cadence was REALLY well behaved despite us skipping her morning nap again. I had a formula bottle to give her which she was a little fussy about since all her bottle recently have been a mix of breastmilk and formula but we eventually got it down. Some of it might have been that we were in a weird place. She napped for about a half an hour in the sling which I'm glad I brought since she wasn't doing anything but playing in the carseat. She didn't cry at all and watched a little of the movie. I'm glad we went. We'll have to see what they are showing next month!

It was a big week for a first too! Pigpen and i tried rice cereal last night but it wasn't as spectacular as we had hoped. It was really runny since that's how you should do it the first time but, although it was a little messy and we got it on video, Cadence seemed rather whatever about the whole thing. She did some funny things with her tongue that I wasn't expecting and sometimes she seemed to gag a little but she tolerated it and didn't seem to mind it. She has a second tooth that has just barely broken through on the bottom. I guess we'll see one on the top next!

Another exciting first was that she rolled over for the first time from front to back this week! Out of the blue, she was doing tummy time on her playmat and I was watching her from the recliner and she just put her head back over her arm and rolled onto her back! I screamed quite a bit which seemed to freak her out and I called Pigpen so excited. I quickly put her back on her tummy, got the video camera and she did it a second time. She has yet to repeat it a third time despite our various attempts over the last few days. I'm sure she'll do it in person for Daddy soon.

She is getting very good at picking things up including my old colored blocks which I would think would be hard! I found out about Sophie the giraffe at the moms group on Monday which made me feel like a bad mom for not having one. But they are $20 at the baby store which is ridiculous. She'll have to be content with the 30 year old giraffe mom kept that was mine... :)
