34 weeks passing by

I'm near the end of 34 weeks and things are the same old same old. I had a doctors appt on Tuesday and everything looked good. I asked if Pigpen got to be in the room when I had an epidural and the answer is yes thank god. I go back in 2 weeks for another appt and get checked for some routine thing about STDs I think. The heartbeat sounded good and she is head down. This week she had her back on my right side but two weeks ago it was on my left. Apparently she is corkscrewing all around!

Last night we got to tour the hospital. We saw a labor and delivery room and a family care center room which was pretty small but you don't have to share, which makes up for it. We even got to go by the nursery (which Pigpen was hoping we would get to do) and saw some wee little babies who were only a few hours old. I think Pigpen was a little alarmed about how little they were but he'll be ok. We even drove home a different way from the hospital (via West Ox instead of the Parkway) just to try something new.

I wasn't having a great day on Tues, feeling pretty icky and low. I seem to have those days periodicially since I'm really feeling out of my element physically. I'm ok with the idea of changing my life but the whole changing my body thing sucks. Hopefully it won't take long to get back to feeling semi normal physically after she's born although I know I'll be exhausted.

We set up a sort of baby monitor this week that we got at Harbor Freight. Its a camera we mounted above the crib that links through the attic to the tv so we can see her while we're watching tv. :) A little creepy but for $30, you can't really go wrong! It even has sound and works in the dark.

Mom is in Belize this week with the Trinity mission trip. Its been weird not being able to reach her but luckily I think she'll be back before I go into labor.

We head to the 4th of July picnic at Aunt Dee's this weekend. Its supposed to be in the upper 80's! I have a nice sleeveless maternity top to wear which will hopefully keep me cool.

We're trying to get a lot of social things out of the way by having dinner with friends and such. I do hope people will come visit us after the baby is born since I don't know if I'll have much energy to venture out, although I hope to.

I'm treating us to maid service for a few visits since cleaning isn't really happening. They are coming next week for the first visit then the end of the month for another visit either before the baby comes or around when the baby comes and then I'll schedule one for the end of August and the end of September just so I don't feel overwhelmed. Now I just need to find a cook for the same thing! :)

What really sucks is how swollen my hands and feet have gotten! I haven't been able to wear my rings for weeks (I have them on my necklace at the moment) but if I'm on my feet a lot or its really hot, I get pretty uncomfortable! I am loving my crocs though and am glad they still fit.

Here's the 34 week picture as she continues to drop!
