4 month checkup!

We went to the doctor today for Cadence's 4 month checkup and second set of shots. She weighed 12lbs 13oz and was 24 1/4 inches long. We thought she was going to weigh more but wow has she gotten long! The doctor said she looked good and we got all our questions answered about her eczema and cheesy nastiness under her chin and armpits and about adding formula into her diet (since my milk supply is going down a little). She was hungry when we were there so she got a little fussy before the shots and of course cried when she got the shots but quickly forgot about them when Daddy gave her a bottle afterwards.

We had a busy weekend with Kate's baby shower and the Revels party, both on Saturday. She was really well behaved at the shower and didn't mind being held by Helen and someone she didn't even know after having such a hard time with Mom and Oma recently. I was glad she did well. At the Revels party at the Swiggs, she was tired, only having two 1/2 hour afternoon naps in the car (but had a good morning one at home). She wailed for a little while and wouldn't go down for another nap or take the bottle but once Pigpen showed up, she took the bottle from him and got super cute for everyone again. Linda loved holding her and showing her off. She went home a little bit before me with Daddy and I hung out with the twins.

We got our first snow on Saturday morning (about 5 inches out by us) and Daddy had to work but we went to our social events in his big truck and did fine. Sunday I went to Revels with Cheryl and Helen and Cadence spent the afternoon with Pigpen having lots of fun and being a really good baby! I realized that was the longest I'd been away from her (since rehearsals for DB weren't that long) and the furthest I'd been away from her. I survived and so did she. :)

She's taken to spitting and blowing little raspberries while eating her bottle. Its cute to watch her figure things out but milk gets everywhere! We try not to laugh so we don't encourage her.

Kate got a bumbo seat for her shower which Cadence test drove (and it passed as Helen said) so it convinced me that we needed to get one for her. I didn't want to pay $35-40 for one new so I found one on Craigslist for $20. Its bright yellow and she's super cute when she sits in it. I'm glad we got it.

She's still a great sleeper. Last night she went down a little late b/c things were crazy after Revels (around 9:30) and she woke up once at 10:30pm and had a little crying fit but Pigpen got her settled down and she slept straight until 8am! It messed up her eating schedule a little but I was amazed at how long she slept. I pumped at 6:30am so it was a pretty good night. I'm still pretty pooped since my sleep sucks. Hopefully it can only get better! She still only naps about an hour or hour and a half at a time (but Sunday she slept for 3 hours for daddy! I think she was over stimulated from Saturday and needed a big rest) but I don't really care about her naps if she's that good a night sleeper. The doctor says to make sure to give her enough calories during the day so she doesn't wake up to get some at night. I wasn't sure if I should dictate her feeding schedule or if I should let her but its clear that its all up to me!

She loves to grab everything and put it in her mouth. She'll be finding her feet soon since she loves the green shoes Jen gave her. Pigpen is convinced she is teething since she loves to chew on things. She's better at tummy time and we're putting her in the saucer more and more even though she's a little wobbly still. We try and rotate her through all the stimulating things: bumbo, saucer, play mat (on her back and tummy) and swing so she gets different views. We're gonna have a smart kid!

Daddy's been home a lot b/c of the snow which is nice! She may becoming a daddy's girl. :)
